Dealing the Race Card from the bottom of the deck...
Pre IOWA...race is a not an issue. In fact Obama works hard avoids anything specifically African-American or racial...eg. Jena Six...overcoming identity the "black candidate.
Being half-white and half-African, he's accused of not being Black enough. He makes no complaints, but true to the passive agressive strategy Michelle reprimands Black folk.
After NH win for Hillary and with the next primary being held in SC with huge Black electorate at stake Barack began to Blacken. Barack's speeches develop into Southern Baptist rhetorical styled sermons as MLK Holiday and SC primary approaches. The exalted comparisons of his inspirational fortitude to Dr. King lead
Hillary to clarify the roles of Civil Rights leader and President. He denies any feeling of accusation against her statements, meanwhile remarks about MLK & LBJ misrepresented by members of his campaign.
Unfounded racially charged criticism of Hillary obviously hurts and angers Bill Clinton.
The first "Black President" Bill Clinton is usurped with a passive agressive play on racial sensitivities to capture African-American voters previously loyal to Clintons.
Bill is accused of making Obama the "Black" candidate by comparing his SC victory to Jesse Jackson's. Perhaps he should have been more congradulatory, but I read it as a knee-jerk reaction to minimize the significance of his opponents SC victory gained from predominantly black electorate to final outcome from the nation.
Oprah identified Obama as "Black" candidate first not Bill.
Black when Convenient!
